1. we loved our time at le meridien and will go back. the negatives were minor but there were a few things i believe they could improve - we were shocked that we had to pay for wifi which is free these days in most hotels. it is free in the lobby but at the rates they charge the add-ons are irritating! the sunsets are incredible but the happy hour cocktails were soooo disappointing - that bar should have been full! breakfast is very ordinary... not 1 change to the buffet over a week - boring! that said, we had such a restful time while my kids had plenty to keep them busy - who can complain when the biggest stress was booking a chair at the pool!
2. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Got upgraded to oceanview room and the view was spectacular!! The room was clean and comfortable but our "neighbours" were a bit rowdy in the morning.
I was a bit disappointed with the festive decor or lack there of...I was hoping to see a huge Christmas tree in the lobby.
Improvement and expansion to wifi reception in areas surrounding the lobby would be nice. Free in-room wifi with SPG card would be even better.
3. Upon arrival at 3:30 PM we were told our room would not be available until 4. Check in is at 2 PM. Not something you want to hear after a long flight from the UK. The bartenders acted like they were doing you a favor when making drinks. I have never had such bad mixed drinks. Seriously, this was such a disappointment. There is no waiter service on the beach which is a shame. They boast 10 restaurants, but there are really only 4 and they are not all open at lunch and there is only one choice for breakfast. The beach towels were badly worn and mine had a mess of dried blood on it. Often the lifeguards were not paying attention to the beach or even seated on their chairs. When I used items from the mini-bar, they were not replaced the next day.
